The Welsh Assembly has passed the Landfill Disposals Tax (Wales) Bill, which will replace landfill tax in Wales from April 2018. The Bill is expected to receive Royal Assent this summer.
The Bill extends the application of landfill disposals tax to unauthorised disposals of waste, with a financial deterrent in the form of an ‘unauthorised disposals rate’, to discourage people from disposing of waste unlawfully.
In Wales, the Office for Budgetary Responsibility forecasts that landfill tax will generate £25m in 2018/19. See http://bit.ly/2tnaYnr.
