HMRC’s VAT online service will be unavailable from Easter Sunday, 8 April, until 6.00 am on Wednesday 11 April for IT upgrades. The department apologised for any inconvenience caused by ‘this essential work’.
‘During this period you will not be able to submit your VAT return online, set up a direct debit or view your account online,’ HMRC said.
‘If you are new to the online service, you will not be able to sign up for VAT online services during this period. If your VAT return has a due date of 7 April 2012, this downtime will not affect you as long as you submit your return on time.’
