In a The Tax Journal article on 15 September 2003 Issue 708 Mike Eland acting Chairman of HM Customs & Excise set out a number of thoughts on how Customs business and their advisers could collaborate. The article speculated on how VAT might be considered by the boards of UK businesses — and drew interesting comparisons between the board meetings of Customs and those of UK businesses.
