A recent study by the City of London Corporation rated London first ahead of New York and Hong Kong as a global financial centre. The Corporation's Global Financial Centres Index evaluates the competitiveness of 46 financial centres worldwide. The results of the study show that London outperformed New York in all five areas of competitiveness: people business environment market access infrastructure and general competitiveness. The biggest contributors to overall competitiveness were judged to be regulatory and tax issues.
