The Fair Tax Foundation and CSR Europe have launched a ‘tax responsibility and transparency index’, a new tool MNEs can use to benchmark their approach to taxation against other organisations. The index rates businesses on their commitment to the spirit (as well as the letter) of the law, their supply chains, approach to public policy and lobbying, involvement in tax ‘controversies’ and public country-by-country reporting of all taxes paid (ie not only direct corporate tax paid by the business).
