T Skugar v Russia (ECHR Case 40010/04)
 
In 1999 the Russian tax authorities issued taxpayers with taxpayer identification numbers consisting of 12 digits. A woman (S) who was a practising Christian was issued with a 12-digit number which included the digits 666. She applied for her number to be cancelled contending that in Christian teaching 666 was 'the mark of the Antichrist' (see the Book of Revelation chapter 13 verses 15 and 16). The tax authority rejected her request and she applied to the ECHR for a ruling that the allocation of this taxpayer...
