Steps for hauliers

printer Mail

HMRC has outlined the Irish Revenue’s ‘pre-boarding notification’ (PBN) requirements for hauliers carrying goods direct from GB to the Republic of Ireland, noting that some hauliers have been refused entry where a valid PBN has not been submitted. Those requirements include:

  • a PBN must be submitted to Irish Customs in advance for businesses carrying goods from GB to the Republic of Ireland using a RoRo ferry service;
  • the haulier is responsible for ensuring that the PBN is submitted using information provided by the importer;
  • only one PBN should be created per vehicle irrespective of the number of consignments in the vehicle; and
  • vehicles will not be allowed to board ferries in GB without a valid PBN.
