HMRC has published new guidelines to assist tax advisers in managing the 31 January 2012 self-assessment filing deadline. The guidance focuses particularly on issues relating to HMRC Online Services, including setting out which returns cannot be filed online.
HMRC has also advised that agent authorisations should be applied for before 16 January 2012 (online application) or 27 December 2011 (form 64-8) in order to be effective before the 31 January 2012 filing deadline.
