Steve Lamey, Benefits and Credits Director General, is to leave HMRC in July to join the IT services company Kelway as Chief Operating Officer. Lamey was HMRC’s Chief Information Officer between 2004 and 2007, when he became Chief Operating Officer. As Director General for Benefits and Credits since September 2008, Lamey has ‘turned around’ the tax credits operation and made significant progress in cutting the level of error and fraud, HMRC said.

Herbert Smith has promoted William Arrenberg, a corporate tax specialist, to its partnership.

KPMG announced its new leadership team, which includes Jane McCormick, Head of Tax.
