Carson appeal goes to the House of Lords
Annette Carson has commenced an appeal in the House of Lords that will determine the future pension status of approximately half a million Britons who have retired abroad. Ms Carson has already received two rulings against her but has been granted leave to appeal by the House of Lords itself. A judgment in her favour would cost the Government at least £400 million.
Annette Carson emigrated from Britain to South Africa in 1989 but continued to make full contributions to her British state pension....
