Opinion – Tax Amnesty Fatigue?

 
Speed Read: Tax amnesties both onshore and offshore are useful facilities enabling people to come forward and resolve their tax problems as well as attracting extra funds for the Government. However as new amnesties have been introduced improvements based on earlier experiences have not come through. Some potential users may not yet have come forward because of the onerous terms lack of awareness about them or confusion about the options available. HMRC needs to properly consider how to maximise the number of people coming forward and how best to follow up on possibly a very long list of people to investigate.
