Who in tax do you most admire?
Ferrier Charlton the man who got me interested in VAT and many other things. He went on to be Senior Partner at Linklaters. When I sat with him he always seemed to have time for everyone whilst running a very busy practice a rare gift. He was instrumental in the AA and Alpine Garden Society (Barton) cases. He was involved in them when I sat with him in Articles. He was the best lawyer and kindest man I have ever come across.
The best piece of professional advice you’ve been given?
Enjoy it. If you do not understand something then ask until you do but in a polite way of course.
What do you think to the way tax law is made...
