The G20 Leader’s Summit is being held this week in St Petersburg, Russia, where Pascal Saint-Amans, Director of the OECD’s Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, will provide an update on the G20 initiatives to tackle tax evasion and avoidance by individuals and companies as part of the OECD’s ongoing project on tackling base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS).

Charities such as Oxfam and ActionAid have said G20 leaders must ensure developing countries are fully included in measures to clamp down on global tax avoidance, with ActionAid tax justice campaign manager Chris Jordan saying: ‘For the developing countries that lose billions of dollars each year to aggressive tax avoidance, the stakes couldn’t be higher. It’s vital that they have a seat at the table, so global tax rules aren’t stitched up by the major powers.’
