New HMRC guidance

HMRC has published the following:

• Notice LFT1: General guide to landfill tax: updates the April 2018 version with changes to the rates of landfill tax and percentage credit for the landfill communities fund;
• Factsheet CC/FS17: Higher penalties for offshore matters: updates October 2018 version with minor correction;
• Pension schemes newsletter 104: includes articles on lifetime allowance uprating, pension flexibility statistics, registration statistics, new features for Manage and Register Pension Schemes service, reporting of non-taxable death benefits, relief at source, non-statutory clearances, applications to register a pension scheme, transfers between registered pension schemes, reporting overseas transfer charges, master trusts, and operating PAYE on pension payments;
• NIC/Pensions Countdown Bulletin Issue 38: includes updates on scheme reconciliation service stalemate queries, phase 7 automated re-run plan, scheme financial reconciliation, contribution adjustment action, requests for SRS data until 31 January 2019, and scheme cessation queries; and
• HMRC clearances and approvals: section on qualifying life assurance policies replaced with ‘transfers of long-term business’;
