Lesotho tax treaty enters into force

The new UK/Lesotho double taxation agreement, signed in November 2016, entered into force on 18 September 2018, replacing the 1997 treaty.

The agreement takes effect in the UK from:

• 1 November 2018 for taxes withheld at source;
• 6 April 2019 for income tax and CGT;
• 1 April 2019 for corporation tax.

In Lesotho the agreement takes effect from:

• 1 November 2018 for taxes withheld at source;
• 1 January 2019 for other taxes.
