'Increasingly unpredictable and unnecessarily aggressive in its approach to taxpayers.' This was the verdict of the City of London Corporation on the UK tax system according to the front page of the Financial Times on 29 February 2008. The new approach we identified in last week's article clearly isn't winning HMRC many fans.
HMRC emphasises lower compliance costs as one of the key benefits of an enhanced relationship with a large business. Any large business which courts 'high-risk corporate' status is therefore going to be concerned...
