HMRC is consulting on the Draft Plastic Packaging Tax (General) (Amendment) Regulations 2023. The regulations are expected to come into force on 1 July 2023 and will require PPT returns to include the total value of PPT tax credits claimed in relation to both the accounting period for which the return is made and also previous accounting periods.
This will bring the legislation into line with current practice, which is already covered in guidance which has the force of law. Consultation on the draft regulations will close on 22 May 2023.
