SMS text service trial to be expanded: from 4 May 2023 HMRC is extending its text message service to various routine queries. The SMS service is designed to direct taxpayers to relevant online services, thereby freeing up HMRC call handlers.
MTD for VAT – compatible software for tax returns:a reminder that, from 15 May 2023, all VAT-registered businesses (including those who previously filed annually using their VAT online account) are required to keep digital VAT records and submit their returns using Making Tax Digital (MTD) compatible software, unless they are exempt.
Advance Valuation Ruling Service:traders can now get legal certainty on their chosen valuation method for imported goods, for a period of three years. Traders can apply for an Advance Valuation Ruling on GOV.UK.
