Government's Occupational Pensions Reform

Following a wide-ranging consultation process and the recent revelations of serious deficiencies in many companies' occupational pension schemes the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has unveiled its plans for the reform of UK pensions. The action plan has been produced in response to the findings of last year 's Pickering Review and the December 2002 Green Paper on Occupational Pensions Reform.
 
The overall theme has been 'greater simplicity with strengthened protection'. Some of the proposals are intended to have immediate effect; others will require further periods of consultation.
