Standing Committee A resumed its consideration of the Finance Bill on Thursday 17 June by agreeing a Government amendment to Clause 206. The rest of the morning was taken up by a somewhat unproductive debate on Clause 207 (Individual's lifetime allowance and standard lifetime allowance). Conservative spokesman George Osborne (Tatton) moved an amendment to increase the standard lifetime allowance. This was put to the vote and defeated by 12 votes to 7. With the clock showing 11.07am the Committee adjourned for an unusually early lunch break.
