The Companies etc. (Filing Requirements) (Temporary Modifications) Regulations, SI 2020/645 temporarily extend various Companies House filing deadlines for companies and other entities to help relieve the burden on businesses during coronavirus, allowing them to focus their efforts on continuing to operate. Key changes include:

  • accounts filing deadlines will be extended by 3 months, to 12 months for private companies and LLPs and 9 months for public companies;
  • 14-day deadline for the annual confirmation statement after the end of the company’s year-long confirmation period will be extended to 42 days;
  • 14-day deadlines for submitting notices of relevant events after they occur are extended to 42 days (for example, change of director or person of significant control);
  • 21-day deadline for registering a charge against a company’s assets is extended by 10 days to 31 days.

The changes came into force on 27 June 2020 and, subject to certain savings, will expire on 5 April 2021.
