Monty Raphael Peters & Peters reviews Fraud: Law Practice and Procedure published by LexisNexis Butterworths Price £195 Loose leaf 1000pp ISBN 0754524345
Fraud sells newspapers causes heartache and loss and often fascinates by its very ingenuity and cheek. What fraud doesn't do is inspire focus groups — hence the little attention it has received from successive Governments. Neither it must be said is it in the forefront of academic research or teaching in the disciplines of law or sociology.
Yet fraud costs the taxpayer and the consumer billions of pounds each year it is the preferred instrument of organised crime and is the delinquent child of globalisation and the easy movement of money and people.
