Amendments to UK register of people with significant control

printer Mail

Alongside the new money laundering regulations, the government has laid regulations modifying the rules for the public register of information about people with significant control over UK companies and LLPs with effect from 26 June 2017.

The Information about People with Significant Control (Amendment) Regulations, SI 2017/693, extend the scope of the register to cover unregistered companies and listed companies on UK secondary markets, such as AIM, subject to a four week transitional period ending on 24 July. Companies will now be required to record changes to information on their register within 14 days and to file that information with the registrar within a further 14 days. The amended rules also provide for the disclosure of protected information to credit institutions and financial institutions under strict conditions.

The Scottish Partnerships (Register of People with Significant Control) Regulations, SI 2017/694, apply similar rules to Scottish limited partnerships and Scottish qualifying partnerships.
