This year’s guide – which sets out the profiles of selected individuals, together with our methodology and rules – is available by clicking on the image below. Click here to download

This is the second year we have published the guide. Once again, it proved highly competitive, and the individuals profiled here represent our pick of some of the best young tax professionals based in the UK.

What makes this guide different is the research based methodology which underpins our selection. A team of independent researchers evaluated all submissions, which involved taking up hundreds of client and employer references from FTSE 100 companies and high net worth individuals. We were, in general, looking for technical excellence, commercial nous and good client skills. We had numerous submissions for in-house professionals; here, our considerations included excellent technical know-how and evidence of strong contributions to the tax function and the wider business. All the individuals selected come very highly rated indeed.

Putting together 40 under 40 is no small undertaking, and it simply would not have been possible without contributions from hundreds of referees. I thank them all for their kind support.
