A Treasury spokesperson told Tax Journal: ‘The government’s commitment to bring forward a proposal to recognise marriage in the tax system remains firm. We want to show we value commitment and will consider a range of options and bring proposals forward at the appropriate time. We have promised to do so by the end of this Parliament, and we remain committed to that timescale.’
