HMRC are seeking views on proposals to accelerate the move to online delivery of services, with a view to making a proposed registration wizard the ‘digital by default channel’ for PAYE, corporation tax, income tax self assessment and class 2 NICs.

HMRC are seeking views on draft legislation, earmarked for Finance Bill 2012, to counter tax avoidance schemes exploiting double taxation agreements.

The proposed monitoring of tax agents by HMRC may offer the long term advantage of ‘removing from the system’ poor agents who undercut prices charged by those providing a better quality service, according to the ICAEW’s Tax Faculty.

The final quarterly release of statistics for HMRC’s Business Payment Support Service shows that 444,400 time to pay arrangements were granted, worth £7.71 billion, in the period November 2008 to the end of June 2011.
