The new UK/Bermuda tax information exchange arrangement, signed in June 2017, entered into force on 27 June 2017. The new arrangement provides for automatic exchange of information from 1 January 2016 under the common reporting standard and replaces the 2007 arrangement between the two countries. This has effect:
with respect to exchange of information on request (paragraph 5) for taxable periods beginning on or after 4 December 2008, or, where there is no taxable period, for all charges to tax arising on or after 4 December 2008; and
with respect to automatic exchange of information (paragraph 6) for calendar years commencing on or after 1 January 2016.
