Do you ever wonder why the professional bodies regularly collate and submit representations to the Revenue and to Customs?
The number of non-governmental amendments that were incorporated in the Finance Act this year can be counted on the fingers (if not the thumb) of one hand. In the meantime the professional bodies and a number of other organisations devoted an enormous amount of time and effort to reviewing the Finance Bill and feeding back comments and questions to the Inland Revenue the Treasury and to MPs. Why did we bother?
