SRT relaxation for work on Covid-19

printer Mail

The chancellor has written to the chair of the Treasury select committee to outline temporary changes to the statutory residence test (SRT) for those coming to the UK to work on activity related to Covid-19. Legislation will be introduced in Finance Bill 2020 to ensure that any periods spent in the UK between 1 March and 1 June 2020 by individuals working on coronavirus-related activities will not count towards the residence tests.

The government will issue further details of the proposed change in due course and intends to ‘keep the duration of this measure under review as the situation develops’.
