Solicitors’ regulatory body warns over tax avoidance

printer Mail

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has published a warning notice about the perils of being seen to facilitate aggressive tax avoidance. The notice advises solicitors to make themselves familiar with the ‘Professional Conduct in Relation to Taxation’ (PCRT) guidelines issued by the tax and accountancy bodies. The SRA notes that ‘these standards reflect our own principles, particularly that solicitors must be honest and act with integrity, and uphold the rule of law’.
