The CIOT
has reported a problem with HMRC’s software that is causing incorrect Self-Employment
Income Support Scheme (SEISS) figures to be included in the self-assessment tax
return. HMRC’s SEISS Application Programming Interface (API) is not functioning
properly, resulting in SEISS grant amount figures being displayed incorrectly
when pulled through to the self-assessment tax return.
In some cases, the decimal point is in the wrong place, meaning
that grant amount figures are being significantly overstated.
HMRC is urgently working to fix this SEISS API issue. In the
meantime, the CIOT notes that it is possible to manually delete the
pre-populated figure and enter the correct grant amount in the tax return.
