HMRC reported 'good progress' in reviewing 2010/11 PAYE codes 'at most risk of error' but asked tax agents to help manage the expectations of clients awaiting a repayment for 2009/10.

The department has completed the issue of 2010/11 notices P9 via EDI and internet it told the CIOT. A small number of paper P9s were outstanding but expected to be cleared 'very shortly'.

'Daily P6s via all media are now being issued for those cases that are part of our ongoing review work along with fresh P2s for customers. We expect to clear the vast majority of cases needing review this month but if no P9 or P6 has been received...
