A redeployment of resource to ‘higher priority work’ will affect turnaround times until the end of October for the processing of paper forms 64-8 and registrations for self assessment and self-employment HMRC announced.
Online processing will not be affected but tax agents are asked not to use the online process to set up a client authorisation if they have already submitted a paper form 64-8 for the same client. Authorisations for self assessment will continue to be prioritised.
Agents are asked to allow two weeks between posting a form 64-8 for self assessment and receiving confirmation that the application has been processed.
The turnaround times for all other forms 64-8 are expected to be around six weeks. Self assessment and self-employment registrations are expected to take eight weeks.
