HMRC has published a summary of responses to its consultation on the ‘independent customs regime’. The consultation sought views from traders and the wider border industry on how the customs system is working and, in particular, their experience of the customs intermediary sector, the simplified customs declarations process and transit facilitation.
HMRC has confirmed that the responses will be considered as part of the policy-making process, with further plans for a ‘new global border regime’ due out in autumn 2022.
