Government lays Crown dependencies customs orders

printer Mail

The government has laid three orders giving effect to new customs arrangements with the Crown dependencies in the event of a no deal Brexit.

These orders establish a new ‘UK/Crown Dependencies Customs Union’, after the UK leaves the EU. In the event of a no deal scenario, each of the governments intend the arrangements to enter into force on the withdrawal date in March 2019. In the event of an implementation period, the arrangements would enter into force at the end of that period. The orders are:

  • The Crown Dependencies Customs Union (Guernsey) (EU Exit) Order, SI 2019/254;
  • The Crown Dependencies Customs Union (Jersey) (EU Exit) Order, SI 2019/256; and
  • The Crown Dependencies Customs Union (Isle of Man) (EU Exit) Order, SI 2019/257.
