Enhanced time to pay

printer Mail

HMRC has announced that, from 1 October 2020, self-assessment taxpayers can use the HMRC online payment plan service to set up monthly instalment arrangements to pay tax liabilities of up to £30,000. This increases the previous self-serve time to pay limit of £10,000 and is designed to extend support for businesses and individuals in the coming months in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to HMRC estimates, ‘around 95% of self-assessment customers who are due to make payments on 31 January 2021 could qualify to implement a time to pay arrangement using the self-serve Time to Pay facility online, without needing to speak to an HMRC adviser’.
