Statistics from The British Venture Capital Association show that its membership has invested in over 11 000 companies which in turn employ about 18% of all private sector employees. The BVCA also states that the UK accounts for some 40% of the European private equity market and that the UK is now second in the world pecking order of private equity investment with only the US in front of it.
