The Tolley's Practical Tax Investigations Conference was very well attended and provided an opportunity to discuss and share experiences of investigation cases with fellow practitioners. In this article I shall briefly summarise just a few of the key issues raised.
Reducing the risk of selection
Gerry Hart began this session by stressing that there are many measures a practitioner can take to reduce a client's risk of selection for investigation. The key message being 'prevention is better than cure'. He recommended the following.
