Tax Journal readers were asked to rate the coalition’s Government’s tax policies to date on a scale of one (very poor) to ten (excellent). The average (mean) score was 6.2. Almost a quarter of the 585 respondents gave a rating of 8/10; 53% indicated a score of at least 7/10.
Comments received to date include:
- A good start at simplification but why continue the persecution of (past) business investment decisions by continuing to attach the rate of Capital Allowances writing down allowance.
- The current tax legislation needs to be rewritten from scratch. Time and money spent administering a tax system is ultimately wasted time and money. Whether that time is spent by civil servants or accountants that is human capital that could be used more...
