HMRC has agreed to extend to the end of August 2012 the evaluation period for the single compliance process being conducted in 16 HMRC sites in Local Compliance Small & Medium Enterprises. The new, single framework for most SME compliance checks will be adopted in September if the results are favourable, HMRC said.
‘Extending the evaluation period should not be seen as an indication that a decision has been made on the single compliance process. It's still in trial stage and lessons continue to be learnt on the design of the process and its impact,’ it added.
An agent briefing is available.
