The next big theme is transparency. This comes in many aspects but the underlying point is those administering the tax system and major contributors – large companies – need to demonstrate rather more clearly the right amount of tax is being paid – and that it’s very substantial. Business pays directly about a third of UK tax – but you’d never think that if you read the press and saw the demonstrations.
