How did you end up in tax?

I very much enjoyed my private client seat as an articled clerk with Macfarlanes and therefore thought that I would also enjoy advising on VAT at Customs & Excise. However when I arrived at the Solicitor’s Office I was immediately dispatched to Uxbridge Magistrates Court to prosecute international cocaine smugglers. After six months they took mercy on me and I returned to the world of tax.

Who in tax do you most admire?

Two very big brains but both with a mischievous sense of humour: Kris Romanski at HMRC and Bill Dodwell at Deloitte.

What work is keeping you busy?

I am lucky enough to have a very varied portfolio of clients ranging from a conceptual artist through farmers charities retailers and insurance companies to international banks – so a bit of everything maybe. But I do enjoy...
