In-House Focus — Tax and the Boardroom

 
Speed Read: Early in January Paul Morton was invited to offer some personal views on current tax issues in the boardroom at a meeting with senior HMRC officials. The objective was to share some commercial perspectives with HMRC and engage in general discussion. The meeting covered a range of issues from the importance of the tax rate in determining shareholder value to risk management corporate responsibility tax avoidance and the organisation of an in-house tax function. The meeting was introduced by Dave Hartnett Permanent Secretary for Tax.
