HMRC has published a list of 26 cases decided during 2015/16 in which tax avoidance was involved, to demonstrate the department’s high success rate in such litigation. HMRC won 23 of the cases and lost two, with one producing a mixed result. Two of the cases listed, Newey t/a Ocean Finance [2015] UKUT 300 (TCC) and Murray Group Holdings Ltd [2015] CSIH 77, are being appealed to higher courts. See http://bit.ly/29SAk1r.
