HMRC’s latest guidance includes:

  • The Treasury has updated its advisory notice regarding the risks posed by jurisdictions with unsatisfactory money laundering and terrorist financing controls.
  • Updated Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) guidance to cover changes from 1 August 2021 and claims for furlough days in July 2021. Examples have also been added for working out how much of the minimum furlough pay businesses can claim for July 2021 and for August 2021.
  • HMRC’s criminal investigation policy has been updated to clarify that the list of circumstances when HMRC may start a criminal investigation is ‘not exhaustive’, and that HMRC does not decide whether or not a case should be prosecuted.
  • HMRC has revised its Updates on VAT appeals list, to cover recent VAT appeals that HMRC has lost and that may have implications for other businesses.
