HMRC to close Bank of England accounts

printer Mail

With effect from 9 August any payments directed to HMRC’s Bank of England accounts will be rejected by the banking system and returned to the payer’s account, HMRC announced.

In January 2010 HMRC asked taxpayers who were continuing to make payments to Bank of England accounts to arrange for payments to go to new accounts with Citi and RBS. Guidance on paying HMRC, including the present bank account details, is provided on the HMRC website.
