I suppose it is not often that the columns of the Financial Times contain a surprise.
 
During my world travels in 2004 I was in Germany for my daughter's wedding. Her husband-to-be collected a guest from Frankfurt airport and at the same time collected a copy of the Financial Times of 21 July for me. I was astounded to read the first part of an article on the results of its investigation of multinationals having subsidiaries in the UK.
