The House of Commons Public Bill Committee (which is the new name for what used to be called 'Standing Committee') met at 4.30pm on Tuesday 8 May to begin its consideration of the Finance Bill. The Committee comprises 19 Labour MPs 10 Conservatives 4 Liberal Democrats and Stewart Hosie of the Scottish National Party.
The Chief Secretary to the Treasury (Stephen Timms) explained that the Paymaster-General (Dawn Primarolo) was unable to attend as she had only recently been released from hospital.
