HMRC have updated their guidance, How employment related securities work if you’re an employer, to add more detail on circumstances where an end of year return is not required. An ERS end of year return will not be required where all of the following criteria are met:
The guidance also includes a more general reminder that (outside of the above), if there are no reportable events, a nil return must be submitted. Of course, the 6 July deadline has just passed (HMRC’s Employment Related Securities Manual at ERSM140080 covers late-filing).
