HMRC has reminded electricians that the registration deadline for its Electricians Tax Safe Plan is 15 May. Electricians taking part can pay any tax and interest they owe while benefiting from ‘lower penalties of only 10%, with a maximum of 20%’, HMRC said in a press release. ‘Normally, penalties of up to 100% of the tax owed can be charged, with possibility of criminal investigation in the worst cases.’
The campaign is aimed at ‘anyone who installs, maintains and tests electrical systems, equipment and appliances’. Guidance is provided on the HMRC website.
